Photos on Canvas – Photography – Canvas Art

Printing photos on canvas is not only a means of preserving your photograph for many years, thanks to the natural longevity of canvas, but doing so also creates unique, personal art. Unique, because it is from yours or another’s photo – photos that no one else will have unless you share it. Personal, because it is from yours or another’s photo – photos that mean something special. And it is art because the source photo is an expression of the photographer.

I think sometimes people only look at canvas prints from photos as a means for doing family portraits. And that is a really good thing! But many forget all their other photos, those wonderful scenes captured as they viewed it – with all its wonder. There is a great line in a movie from years back spoken by a character who had become a photographer. She said she looked through the viewfinder and would look around until a question or a curiosity arose like “how” or “why” or “when” – then she would snap the picture. This method applies to any potential photo, be it of people, nature, structures, whatever. I have seen incredible photos of flowers and insects and other tiny life that has been caught by a zoomed in lens, bringing a totally different perspective to the subject and giving it a world of its own. One of my favorites is the intricate spider web glistening in the sun, wet from dew. Nature is only one “genre” that has unlimited subjects for canvas art to grace your walls.

So, take your camera for a walk! If you don’t have nature areas to trek through where you live then just walk around the neighborhood…the park…even your town or city streets. Look for the large “money shots” then look within those shots…zoom in and see what is there, panning as you go for different angles, different perspectives. I think sometimes we lack confidence and focus too much on what we have read or maybe learned in the classroom. Try not to fixate on what you “think” good photography is (other than to have your digital camera set properly!), rather, step out of the classroom…step out of the proverbial box. If you are looking at a beautiful stream, look closer. Zoom in. Perhaps you espy an errant wild flower growing crookedly from under a small rock…maybe stones in the water that are only visible when you get right over top of them. Do you see any frogs, lizards or bugs? This is their world, their home…look for their experience. Don’t forget odd shaped rocks…twisted trees or branches…the lonely toadstool…wild flowers up close and personal.

If you are photographing in a town or city, you have just as much – if not more – to investigate. Wherever you are, zoom in…view from standing…sitting…look behind, look down, look up…find different viewing positions – all of which gives you different perspectives of your subject. Explore!

Picture Postcards Of Life

It doesn’t have to cost much in order to brighten up someone’s day. In this article I will share with you how I have been surprising the ones I love by sending them unexpected envelopes of happiness in the mail.

When most people take a vacation they send postcards back home to show everyone where they have been. This makes me wonder, why doesn’t anyone send postcards to share everyday life or memories with someone?

Just about everyone has pictures lying around just waiting to be looked at. I was going through some of my old family photos when I came across one of me and my brother Jon that really made me laugh. The picture was taken few summers ago when my brother and I had an unexpected good time together. We started off that night thinking it was going to be boring because we had no where fun to go. It ended up being a great night. We hung out with my boyfriend Justin and our friend James on our back porch. We all had some beers and good laughs. As soon as I saw that picture It reminded me of all the good times me and Jon have shared over the years. Back then we lived together but now he has his own apartment. I have missed Jon lately and I wanted to share these great memories with him. So I wrote a note on the back of that picture about how much fun that night was and mailed it to him. I think receiving that picture really made his day and let him know that he was still on my mind.

I also send picture postcards of my daughter Lily. We have relatives who love seeing pictures of her. I print out pictures of her on my photo printer and write a note on the back of the picture for them. Yesterday I sent one of Lily biting my nose and wrote about how this is Lily’s favorite way to give me kisses. My photo printer makes it very easy to send pictures whenever I’d like. I don’t have to go to the store or wait for them to be developed. I have the picture of my choice in seconds. I have also scanned my grandmother’s old photos into my computer so now I can surprise my family with pictures that they haven’t seen in years.

The possibilities for these postcards are endless, anyone can make them. If you have a picture that someone will like then you have a picture postcard. Just write a letter on the back with the fond memories that you have about the picture and it will surly brighten up someone’s day. One stamp, one picture, one story, priceless memories.

How To Win The Lottery – 7 Tips To Improve The Odds

Lotteries have become incredibly successful in recent years. Not surprising when you consider the attraction of possibly winning and winning big. That gives us a feel good factor, and even when we don’t win, it’s easy to accept that consequence because; in our heart of hearts we know that the odds make it extremely unlikely that our precise chosen numbers will come up.

We also feel good about the fact that the Lottery generally supports good and worthy causes. Some even look on Lottery tickets as a voluntary form of taxation.

We know that the chances of winning a jackpot with our chosen six numbers are remote, but we can also feel good about smaller wins, many of which can still be life changing sums, of many thousands of Dollars, Pounds or Euros.

There are ways of improving our chances of a win. We know instinctively that six consecutive numbers are most unlikely to come up all together in one draw. Similarly it is true that for all numbers to be odd or all numbers to be even is unlikely. It follows that the best chance we have is if our chosen numbers have a balance amongst them.

Here are the seven tips that you can use to improve your chances of a win in Lotto games:-

1. Do it for the fun of it and don’t take it too seriously.

2. Be a Player and not a Gambler. Gamblers take risks and generally lose more than they can afford to lose – This applies to all forms of pure gambling, like horse racing, for example.

3. Approach the game logically. By all means play favourite numbers or birth dates or any other numbers special to you, but recognise that many others play the same way. For example, many people play birth dates of family members, but that limits them to numbers one to thirty-one only.

4. It is better to play less often, if you cannot afford to always play, rather than spreading your stake money too thinly.

5. Play all available numbers, if possible. In other words it is better to play once every nine weeks and then buy nine tickets, rather than buying one ticket every week. To still get some fun out of every draw, consider playing just one ticket every week and then play multiple tickets at regular intervals, if you can afford to do so.

6. Play balanced tickets rather than “weighted” tickets. In other words avoid all numbers odd or all numbers even. Such draws occur only rarely.

7. Choose your numbers rather than relying on “Lucky Dips” or “Auto Picks”.

History of Teen Choice Awards

An awards show for teen viewers was the idea of Bob Bain and Michael Burg, who sought to target a youth demographic a bit older than those that were the focus of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards. Beginning in 1999, Fox has presented the Teen Choice Awards in honor of teen viewers’ picks for the year’s greatest achievements in film, TV, music, fashion, athletics, and beyond. The show is complete with celebrity appearances and musical performances with teen appeal for their voting audience ranging in age from 13-19.

In the years 1999 and 2000, the awards took place at Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar. Since 2001, the show has taken place at the Gibson Amphitheatre located in Universal City, CA. Occasionally the show has a live broadcast, but more often it airs a day later. Each year, teens are invited to fill the stands as guests.

The Teen Choice Awards include 56 categories, among them honors for:

• Film – The basic Choice (Best) Movie categories for various genres to honor actors, actresses, and movies themselves in Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Thriller, Comedy, Fantasy, Animation, and Sci-Fi, along with additional movie awards for Choice Breakout Male, Choice Breakout Female, Choice Fight, Choice Kiss, Choice Villain, and Choice Hissy Fit

• Television – The basic Choice Show categories for various genres to honor actors, actresses, participants and shows themselves in Drama, Action/Adventure, Comedy, Reality, Reality Competition, Late Night, and Animation, along with additional television awards for Choice Breakout Series, Choice Actor/Actress Breakout, Choice Parental Unit, Choice Sidekick, Choice Villain, Choice Personality, and Choice Female/Male Scene Stealer

• Music – The basic music categories including “choice” artists and albums in various genres, along with Choice Breakout Artist Male/Female and more off-beat categories like Choice Love Song, Choice Hook Up Song, Choice Tour, and Choice Soundtrack.

• Summer – Honors for summer’s choice song, choice movies in various genres, choice film and television actors and actresses, and Choice Summer Hissy Fit

• Miscellaneous categories including Choice Hottie Male/Female, Choice Red Carpet Icon Male/Female, Choice Web Star, Choice Twit Award, Choice Fab-u-lous!, Choice Fanatic Fans, and Choice Smile

When the show began, ballots were placed in teen magazines, from which readers could remove them and mail in their votes. Another option was to cast their votes using online ballots found at Fox.com; but in 2008, Fox launched an official Teen Choice Awards website through which votes could be cast instead. In addition, during the same year, a Twitter page appeared for “teenchoicegirl” who keeps fans abreast of the later TCA news. (The real-life “teenchoicegirl” is a teen-aged intern who is working on the show.) To date, “teenchoicegirl” has over 48,000 followers, and over 80 million votes are cast to determine annual Teen Choice Award winners.

Zodiac Sign – Virgo

Astrology has always been an interesting topic. Whether you follow it religiously, or read your horoscope for fun, there is a definite entertaining aspect to it. Although, even reading your sign as entertainment, there are some attributes that seem more than coincidental.

The sixth sign is Virgo. It is signified by Virgo the Virgin. It is unclear where the origins of the name come from. Yet, the virgin is in relation to the Virgin Mary. Pure and refined, they share the Virgin Mary’s maternal instinct. Observant, those born under Virgo are at the happiest looking out for people.

Like Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces, Virgo is a Mutable sign. A Mutable sign are seen as double-bodies. This is a result of the signs being in between seasons. In the case of Virgo, it bridges Summer and Autumn in the Northern hemisphere. Flipping between movable and fixed, they also retain an element of nature.

Traditionally, Virgo is ruled by Mercury. Mercury was known as the messenger of the gods to ancient Romans. Astrologically, the planet pertains to the mind, or mentality. Principles such as communication, rationality and reasoning are signified by the planet. Although, contemporary astrologers say Virgo is ruled by Ceres, a dwarf planet just further out than Pluto in the solar system. Its status is unknown in astrology at this time.

In the realm of jobs and careers, Virgo achieves well in any kind of care work. With traits such as the maternal instinct, a la Virgin Mary, along with a dependable nature and practicality. Of a modest nature, Virgo can take good care of others, without wanting to take overt credit.

As with anything else in life, Virgo does have a downside. Their modesty can make others question it as self-doubt. Modesty and shyness makes Virgo mistaken for introverts. Virgos can be too conservative for their own good. Getting tied up with every fine detail, they don’t like the prospect of taking risks.

It is only in Western astrology that star signs are linked to the elements. In the case of Virgo, it is the element of Earth. Stability and grounding, such as with the Earth, also pertain to Virgo. Earth is a very “physical” element. With this, Earth signs, like Virgo, have desire and need for physical security. Earth signs share this desire for security with the Water signs.

Romantic compatibility runs deep throughout the Zodiac and astrology. How one star sign can relate to another is an intriguing area. Seeing that Virgo lends a dependable nature, they look for this in others. They can find this in the other Earth signs, Taurus and Capricorn. The Water signs of Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer work well with Virgo. Earth is seen to “guide” Water to its ultimate goal. In return Water signs mould or release emotions for Earth signs.
