Love Compatibility Horoscope – Waste of Time, or Worth Its Weight in Gold?

So, just what is a love compatibility horoscope?

Just what it sounds like, really; it’s a horoscope reading done with the express purpose of helping you see what you really need in a relationship, where you may have been going astray in getting that to manifest in your life, why you may have allowed yourself to do that, and how to let go of those self-defeating patterns once and for all.

Are all love compatibility horoscope readings pretty much the same?

On a high level, they all have the same basic purpose, but the techniques used are as diverse as can be: some love psychics use complex astrological charts and calculations that would make your head swim, some use tarot cards, some use no exterior aids at all; preferring to rely on their own experience and intuitive understanding to provide you with the guidance you seek.

Does the reader have to know everything about me and my current partner to get an accurate reading? What if I’m not even in a relationship right now?

There are some people (even some very highly-regarded readers) who insist that, without complete information about someone’s partner, it’s simply impossible to get an accurate compatibility reading. Tattoo Art And The Negative Associations – Negative Associations of Tattoos to Antisocial Behaviour

We all exist in a system of social groups. The profession we choose, the hobbies we partake in, the community in which we live all the way to our national identity. Different social groups have different tolerance or acceptance of tattoos and body modification. Some people who want to get a tattoo may never simply because they have seen what their society does to or thinks of people with tattoos. In extreme cases they become an outcast, stared at, thought less of or labelled a freak just because of the negative tattoo associations some people and social groups have. Obviously people who have tattoos which cannot be seen are more difficult to be judged upon.

In the UK currently the negative tattoo associations can be mainly found in the vague but occasionally still evident class differences. The feeling of tattoos being for the working class can still be found especially in older generations. Other factors effect the reaction which we have to tattoos. A tattoo of a dragon all the way up a mans arm for example (called a ‘sleeve’) would be treated entirely differently if he were wearing a suit than if he were in very baggy jeans and a wife-beater top. In this regard we interpret the tattoo in the context in which it is presented. The negative repercussions of having a tattoo are mainly felt in the professional industries such as banking and law rather than in public situations.

In the United States negative tattoo associations include belonging to biker gangs or criminal street gangs, meaning some Americans with tattoos may be unfairly branded as troublemakers or misfits. This can lead to people with tattoos only associating with other tattooed folk, which perpetuates the negative tattoo associations within society. The old saying that when like mixes with like their communal irrationalities and false beliefs are perpetuated and reinforced can explain this phenomenon.

These associations are not always an issue. In some professions negative tattoo associations are largely ignored or don’t exist, the military and the entertainment industry being two examples. However, in the military tattoos should not be visible when in uniform and many in the entertainment industry also choose to have tattoos in largely non-visible areas. Some odd places for tattoos have been utilised by celebrities recently including the inside of the ear, side of the finger and down the side of the body.

Depending on the level of tattooing and the sensitivity of the people around various levels of reaction can be seen. Sometimes people with tattoos may be avoided in public, even if that individual is successful in his or her career and has a perfectly gentle nature. The negative tattoo associations can be just that strong in certain communities.

Graphic Design – Inspiration Vs Desperation

Within the last 30 years visual communication has evolved dramatically – even the diction has changed. Knowledge of this trade was expressed in terms of lineart, halftones and pmt, now being replaced with bitmap, pixels and files. Along with the terminology, the mechanics of graphic reproduction evolved as well. I fondly remember working in a darkroom where pmt’s were created by laying your image into a vacuum frame and ‘shooting’ it through a lens which would transfer the image onto photosensitive paper. This paper was sent through a processor which developed the image on the paper creating what was known as a pmt (photo mechanical transfer).

The pmt was then taken to a light table where it was gathered along with text for laying out a proof. The text was created using a typesetting machine – about the size of a fridge laying on it’s side. Text was produced on photosensitive typesetting paper which also had to be developed through a processor. Both typesetting paper and pmt’s needed to be run through a waxer – a machine which would put a small film of wax along the back side of the developed paper. These waxed pieces of paper bearing images and text were then arranged on a sheet of card stock to form the layout. For colour breaks, sheets of clear acetate were layered on top of the layout card and images that represented different colours were adhered to the respective layers. This time consuming process was required for a client’s final proof.

Once approved, the artwork would find it’s way back into the darkroom where it was loaded into the vacuum frame and shot – this time onto photosensitive negative film. Lineart was simple while photos required superimposing a dot pattern by using ‘halftone screens’ which were place on top of the film negative during exposure. Exposed film then required a 3 bath developing process… developer, stop bath and fixer. Once dry, the final film would be taken to a light table where it was ‘stripped’ into position to burn plates for the printing process.

Nowadays… one simply sits behind a computer, scans documents, types up text and creates a layout for proofs and final print-ready files.

However, with all of this technology one thing has remained the same – the creative process. Certainly just about anyone with a computer can create documents for print and web nowadays – which seems a little humbling for the trained graphic artist, but not to be discouraged. If anything, this new technology will bring out the best in the designer. As everybody runs around using too many fonts, poor symmetry, photoshop effects, and colors that don’t contrast… it makes way for the true designer to shine on projects that matter. The client that chooses to create their own marketing brochure is probably the same client that gives designers a headache.

Competing Within the Music Industry

With so many different genres of music and so many bands and musicians competing within each genre, it can be tough to get your music heard.

If we think about the diversity of music; you’ve got rock, punk, singer songwriter, metal, soul – the list is endless and there are so many sub genres within these main categories too.

The promotional strategy will vary within each different style of music but the fundamental basics will always be the same. You need to target people who are interested in your genre first and foremost. There is no point in a metal band targeting an audience who are going to be listening to chart music. Of course, many people have a varied taste in music so there may be individuals who listen to this music that will be interested in yours, but generally people sway more towards one genre than another.

Start with your friends. There is a good chance they are into the same music as you. Ask them to spread the word and ensure that they come along to any gigs that you perform. Word of mouth is a great way of promoting your band.

Use the internet. The internet connects people regardless of geographic location. If you can find people with a common interest, connect with them. Use social networking, online communities and forums. These are great ways of making people more aware of the music you create.

Post videos on YouTube and other video sites. If you perform covers of popular songs, these are likely to be picked up by fans of the song in question. Performing live music online can be a great form of promotion. If they like what they hear, there is a good chance they will listen to your own material you have uploaded and hopefully visit your website or other social media profiles. This can be a great way of attracting an audience.

Communicate with music bloggers and make a personal connection. If you can do this, they may promote your website on their blog and post a review of any material you release. Music blogs receive a great number of visitors and along with this, receive a lot of requests. Make sure any correspondence you send their way is personal and genuine. Offer to return favours if you are asking for them as it can’t just be a one-way street.

You should combine any promotion you do offline with what you do online. Make the two consistent and integrate them. The internet should not replace what you do in the real world, but it’s power and potential cannot be ignored.

If you find there is a market for your music within another genre (if the two cross over for example) then expand your promotion to this audience too. Try to keep your targeting as specific as possible as this will yield the greatest results.

You first need to take time to learn the industry of fashion photography. This is the part of the process that causes a number of aspiring fashion photographers to fail. They are caught up with all the glitz and glamour of the industry that they forget the fundamentals of photography that help make a photo shoot perfect. That is to say that they focus more on looking good, than actually having a good shoot. In order to obtain jobs, you will need to have a portfolio that showcases your body of work. Therefore, you need to take the time to choose your best work. Your portfolio should be made up of your strongest 11 x 14 images; and though most clients prefer prints, there are others who will prefer to see your work online and therefore a simple and fast website is required.
